Well sweetvanillasugar.com came about because my former pastor at this church asked me to do the church’s website. About a month later he asked me to come up with a name for my web-designing company because other people he knew wanted their websites done by me and he said it wouldn’t be a good idea to go under my own name. I thought of this name because if I was going to have a website I was paying for I would like to have my website to be interesting and entertaining to myself as long as others. As soon as I paid for my domain I created my website and added several domains to it including the one with information about web-design.

At first I had a vanilla colored layout with links to my blog and other subdomain’s. I hated it, but because I still hadn’t figured out how to configure the php with the css to make my blog look nice I had to use that as my default main page. Luckily about 1-2 weeks later I figured out how to do it. As soon as I figured out how to design my blog it was so simple. I then made my blog my main page because I felt like having a separate main page just to have links to my site was a waste of space.

Before sweetvanillasugar.com I had 3 previous websites: jensgirlsonly.com, neopetsonly.com, leahs-webbie.com.

Jensgirlsonly.com was so sucky! Poor graphics, bad layout, ugly color scheme etc. Even though it was all these things everyone who visited it loved it. I thought it was great too because I had just learned how to do HTML. Looking back I really sucked, but that’s why we learn and improve our skills. The site was basically an all girls site that dealt with personal issues like self-esteem, boo letters (you submit an embarrassing experience), sexual education and more. I also had layouts for neopets guilds and blogs, backgrounds and music.

The next website was neopetsonly.com. Which off coarse was about neopets. I had a subdomain called the strawberry webbie builder which helped people build a website. I soon got bored with the neopets site and deleted it.

The third site was leahs-webbie.com. This site had my first blog, a neopets site again, and the strawberry webbie builder. This site was better than the first too. My HTML skills had improved, but I still lacked CSS and PHP skills. This site was soon deleted.

Along came sweetvanillasugar.com. While designing my former pastors website, I learned a lot more about webdesign. This is when I learned CSS. When I started my website I learned PHP (which is quite simple) and decided to design my entire website using PHP, CSS and a bit of HTML. By then my graphic skills improved. I decided to make all my graphics myself. I’m also planning to get them all copyrighted so no one will steal them.
