I was hoping that your experience and your new environment would be just that--NEW and not reminiscent of your previous dwelling. I agree with you totally for taking matters into your own hands. You have EVERY RIGHT to deduct the costs of repairs that they should have done PRIOR to making a public notice about a property for rent. I'm sure you know this but make sure you send copies of the receipts rather than the original receipt. But like I said, I'm sure you know that because that pertinent information is from "Shitting on your Slummy Landlord 101". LOL. I hope the little man feels better. It sucks to be staying in a place where the landlord doesn't seem to give two cents but this could call for a huge concern. Your son should not have to endure someone else's incompetence.
