Nautica Queen – New Year’s Gala

I thought our  New Year’s was ruined due to my sister’s and her lying, but my husband really surprised me when he said that we were just going to take a cab to the Nautica, so I went a head and found a babysitter and got dressed in the champagne/gold outfit I purchased for our evening.

When we got downtown my hubby got the boarding passes and we waited in line to board the ship for dinner. It was really tired for some reason, but I wasn’t going to let my sudden spell of exhaustion ruin our evening either. As we boarded the ship, it was rather small in size to me, but I think that’s due to the fact that I’ve been spoiled from our honeymoon on a cruise ship which was enormous in size. Anyways, we got our pictures taken, checked our coats ,and were seated for dinner at a table that seated about 8 people. There were 3 other guest at the table when we were seated and the table was decorated with black, silver, and purple balloons, hats, champagne glasses, and noise makers. For appetizers there was mussels and chilled shrimp, but I didn’t take part in it at all for religious reasons. Instead I waited for the beef wellington hors d’oeuvres that the waiter came around with, which was delicious. We then sipped on a rather bland strawberry smoothie which could’ve been a lot sweeter – lol, and waited for dinner to be served.

Dinner was okay, but the best thing out of the entire course in my opinion was the salad. There was a lot of food at the buffet, but like all buffets the food is hardly ever the quality of a home  cooked and/or gourmet styled food. It’s usually rather bland. With all that said, I still had a great time and it was better than just sitting at home in an empty apartment doing nothing, while everyone else was out partying. On the other hand, the people whom sat at the table with us should have been the ones that stayed home because they were rather gloomy. They sat at the table the entire night and never cracked a smile. It was really quite depressing.

For the duration of the night we danced, watch old people get drunk and make a fool of themselves, and drank nasty champagne . I had a great time on the Nautica Queen this New Years because it was a new experience for the both of us. I’ve never done anything like that before. I’m usually at home on New Years Eve with my family, not doing anything special so this was a first!

BTW: Being around drunk old people is very entertaining and fun!

Happy New Year!
